Depression comes in a variety of shapes & forms. The different types of depression have different & unique symptoms, causes, and effects. Knowing what type of depression you have can help you manage your symptoms and get the most effective treatment. The cause of your type of depression helps determine the treatment

Understanding the underlying cause of your depression may help you to overcome it. In some instances therapy will be the best approach for example, if you are struggling with grief and loss simply resorting to a medication may not help you to process your feelings. It is important to keep in mind what works for one person might not work for another, and no one treatment is appropriate for everybody.

Often the best approach involves a combination of a support system, maybe a few lifestyle changes, and professional help. Incorporating healthy eating habits, getting some exercise, learn to better manage stress and spending time with positive uplifting people is always a good starting point. Keep in mind, feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life. Note, when emptiness and despair take hold seemingly lasting for what feels like forever, this may be depression.
