    Default F'in Tourists

I'm sure I'm not the only one fed up with the idotic tourists that come to Santa Barbara. You know the idiot who is going the wrong way down De La Vina or the Prius driver who stops dead center in the Milpas roundabout while she trys to figure out how to drive in a circle. The aholes who crowd the Cabrillo bicycle path on the weekends walking 4 wide to block all moving traffic. I know there is nothing I can do about it, so I come here to vent. What bothers you about the tourists?

Default They don't really bug me.

It's not really a bid deal.
SB is a tourist city. People also come here to get married all the time. Tourism here provides a lot of jobs for people. From the people who rent out bikes at the beach to the people who take photos at weddings; it's just how it is.-

I agree with both of your points! Some people are great tourists; they are nice and spend a ton of MONEY while some are rude and act as if they have never been in a town before. I think it depends on the person and who they are.

I too am consistently annoyed by the tourists. I deal with it by avoiding the crowded tourist hot spots, particularly state street and the nearby wharf. I also to make sure I know when local festivals and tourist attractions are occurring so I know when to stay clear.

    Default Embrace our tourists

I have lived in other touristy areas in the past, such as Reno, and also in San Diego. Santa Barbara seems to be a huge draw, no doubt why, and the town is more compact so the flood of tourists tend to impact us more. I have had mixed reactions to tourists. I dislike them when they run a stop sign and almost smash me as I'm running on our streets. I hate them when they block the bike lane along the beach by standing idle in my path!! But, as the point was already made, tourism is an industry that benefits all of us, benefits our businesses, allows some of the businesses even to just exist. And I sometimes enjoy the variety of foreign folks that visit. Maybe we can find ways to personally benefit from the tourism, like find some useless trinket to sell.

I just think that as a tourist you should be more aware of your surroundings and also be considerate of locals no matter where you are. The locals keep up the place to be a good place to visit. I don't think people consider that when going on vacation.

Tourists bring more money to the city. So, they do not bother me at all. Santa Barbara - just a little town, but I lived in a city before - there is a crowd and idiots!!!
Just do not pay attention to them, look at them as a birds migrations... A lot of sh&$t but still beautiful! )

I enjoy the tourists, adds flavor to our community. Have you ever tried actually getting to know any of them?

As a majority, they're okay. Like a few of you mentioned, they a great source of income for the city and I try to avoid their popular spots but I can't stand it when Im trying to ride my bike home along shoreline and the idiots are going down the path the wrong direction or just standing there 6 people deep completely blocking the path. Its frustrating that there is no common sense or courtesy with a lot of these people and often times I want to actually run into them to get out my frustration.
