Default Casa Esperanza and its affect on the lower eastside of Santa Barbara

With all the recent buzz about the Milpas Community Association coming together again, what effect do you think the Casa Esperanza homeless shelter has on the area?

As a resident of the eastside, I can tell you it has a huge impact on the surrounding area. I would rather drive to the Shell gas station on Carrillo than use any of the gas stations on Milpas. The homeless end up pandering at every corner and end up defecating in the surrounding areas.

How do we solve this? There is no easy answer, but something has to be done. What were to happen if Casa Esperanza moved to Hope Ranch or Montecito? How would the residents react? Why should the lower eastside residents be forced to put up with the problem?

Did you read the latest article in Independent. It is 400+ homeless most of them are mentally sick. It is sad and scary at the same time!
